The 1987-88 season was one of the most memorable in Liverpool's illustrious history, characterized by outstanding team performances and remarkable individual contributions. Managed by Kenny Dalglish, Liverpool played an attractive and dominant brand of football, often referred to as "pass and move." The team included legendary players such as John Barnes, Peter Beardsley, and John Aldridge, who were instrumental in Liverpool's success that season.

Liverpool won the First Division title in emphatic fashion, finishing the season with only two defeats in 40 league matches. Their fluid attacking play and solid defense saw them finish with a goal difference of +63, scoring 87 goals and conceding just 24. John Barnes, in particular, was a standout performer, mesmerizing fans and opponents alike with his skill, pace, and creativity, and was subsequently named the PFA Players' Player of the Year.

Despite their dominance in the league, Liverpool narrowly missed out on a double, losing to Wimbledon in a shock 1-0 defeat in the FA Cup final. Nevertheless, the 1987-88 season is fondly remembered by Liverpool fans for the exhilarating football and the sense of invincibility the team exuded throughout the campaign.
